Daily March for Peace in Totnes PDF Print E-mail

THE people of Totnes will be holding a daily march for peace to protest at the Israeli aggression in Gaza.

Following the 10th day of killing in Gaza by the Israeli military a march for peace is to be held everyday for at least one week in Totnes

The first march which took place on Monday January 5th was well attended with many locals turning out in the bitter cold weather to show their solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza. Many passing motorists also tooted their horns to show support.

The march will be held again every day this week, meeting at The Plains in the bottom of Totnes at 5.00 pm where marchers will then walk up the hill to the Civic Square, where they light candles, hold hands in a circle round a tree and the usual Totnes hippy type things. The march then resumes walking on through The Narrows and then taking the bypass down to the KEVICs bridge and then along the main road back to The Plains.

Organisers were delighted with the turnout and are urging other locals to come and join them during the week.

One protester said "I feel so helpless watching the Zionist murderers slaughtering the people of Gaza so I feel the need to show my support for the Palestinians by coming on the march."
