loving the private eye cover that came out this week...

this is the kind of stuff that has been going on with a lot of the political conventions in the US, i can at least recall the DNC in denver, colorado (where there is footage of a detention camp that protesters were taken to for further interrogation), and i remember seeing a lot of the same heavy-handed tactics used by the RIOT POLICE that was sent out at the RNC in st. paul, minnesota -- pushing protesters over with their 40lb. guns to the ground and using tear gas and what appear to be rubber bullets. these were unarmed protesters.

i'm not surprised one bit about all this trouble going on with G20, everything we see in the US can be expected here, too, sadly. what i'm glad to see is that at least these film clips have been broadcasted over the media -- the BBC did not mention anything about the political conventions i mentioned, not a single UK paper ran with any of them at the time either, other than times online, i don't know if they ever printed anything about it though. interesting..

  • UK: OPED: Britain's Drug Policy Will Not Improve Until We Are Bold Enough to Exp
The Observer, 05 Sep 2010 - We Can't Know the Potential Benefits of Innovations Like Portugal's Unless We Research Them, Says Alex Stevens For years, the UK government has consistently used a myth to stave off any bold innovations in our failing drug policy. It has predicted that liberalisation would inevitably lead to higher rates of drug use and related harms. The example of Portugal seriously challenges this argument.
