high pressure sodium 250w or 400w 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 11
when time comes for buddage I'm going to get a hps light the cost difference between the 250w and the 400w is tiny so i'm not sure which to go for the new grow room i set up on Sunday has an inbuilt extractor fan and i will when i can get a oscillating fan(walked round town half a fucking hour Sunday looking but no luck) anyways with cuttings etc ill probably end up doing about six-ten plants would the 250w be adequate to get a reasonable yield and good smoke or is the extra tenner to get a 400w worth it. also is the extra heat created by the hps a problem.

Hellya get the 400 - at most I would have 6 under a 400 hps

Heat is something u can deal with later - if it becomes a problem - deal with it then. Did you get a max/min thermometer? Only a few quid but shit is it worth it.

BTW: Ask DrHemp where the best place for the growroom thread is.

Dr? u listening?

would adding a 125w envirolite blue help yield/potency as hps have a higher red spectrum i heard that dual spectrum lighting is the best way to go for good smoke.

i havn't got a thermometer yet don't see the point with enviros anyway i have no means of controlling tempruture which is a bit shit. i was looking on ebay at some fan heaters that have a thermostat so aswell as creating airflow heat/cool the growroom.

found this light on ebay 600w complete for 75inc postage looks a good deal how many plants can i put under a 600w.

this growing tomatos idea has turned into a full blown hobby i never thought gardening of any sort would be this enjoyable.

also grown under 600w of lights in john innes #3 potting compost with perlite and vermiculite what sort of yields roughly am i looking at per plant.

its more about your space than the number of plants. a 600 is supposed to cover a 4ft by 4 ft space i think. to get the square ft size of your groom multiply the width by the depth(no height needed, just floorspace) when you have that figure divide 600(or 400) by it so you get the amount of watts per square foot. if you've got 50 its just enough for healthy, strong plants. if you have 100, bring on the fat buds.

as for wacking the blue enviro in, it would minimize stretching during flowering . possibly provide more uv-B(pruduces extra resin, also b4 you harvest give the plant 24 or 48 hours of complete darkness puts the last of the plants energy into making copious amounts of resin).

yield- not sure but 1 gramme of dryed, cured bud per watt is a an alright figure to aim for, so off a 600 thats 600 grams (21.4 oz).

grow room 6' by 2' that should be perfect for a 600w wow i can't wait for flowering.

ya with a 600 you should get a nice tidy harvest

Hmm 1'3" - you should consider turning the tops down soon, letting them bush up a bit and then put them in to flower. The will continue to grow vertically more than you would think.

IMHO anyway....

yeah its a good deal, but make sure your not being scammed and buying a box or something. if you flower at 2 feet, you may end up with six foot monsters so be careful.(a plant can triple in height in flower). btw you'll need an adjusta shade or a mantis pro reflector if you want to cover that space properly, no other shade will spread light over a 6 ft by 2ft space. if you don't you'll get much better plants in the middle and spindly things at the edge.

I'm not worried about the height the bigger the better the grow room is large enough for me to stand up in (i'm 6ft 5) with about another ft above me also the grow room is quite thin (2.5ft by 6ft) so thats not much of a worry anyway I'm hoping for a good harvest. does anyone know any shops that sell oscillating fans because i tried all over Plymouth a couple of weeks ago and couldn't find one.

it'll do, BUT the light will only cover about four foot of your growing area with strong enough light. if your not using all of your space then it wouldn't really matter. imagine when your plants get really big, only the ones in the middle will get the light, blocking out the ones at the edge. if you have any trouble, just pop over to starlite systems, their friendly people and will give you advice.
