We just watched an article on BBC south west implying that cannabis smokers were responsible for all the ills of society.
In our opinion, the whole BBC article was _base_d on lies and misinformation, however, at the end of the broadcast, they gave a telephone number to call, inviting viewers who had been effected by their story to phone them, so we did, and gave the BBC some home truths.
08000566065
The gentleman who answered the phone said that the line was only for people who had a problem with cannabis, well, we told him we had a problem with the lies the BBC were telling about cannabis; of course, when faced with a worthy opponent to their misinformation, all they could do was hang up.
BBC tell lies, they reported the collapse of WT7 20 minutes before the controlled demolition of said building, yet they would somehow have us believe that those of use who chose to use a plant that grows naturally on the planet are somehow more scary than our governments that sponsor terrorism and create acts of terror killing innocent British people, in order to further their obscene agenda of world domination.
Pot smokers pay TV licenses too

My letter to them: I just watched a piece on BBC south west television implying that cannabis smokers were responsible for all the ills of society. In my opinion, the whole BBC article was _base_d on lies and misinformation. The simple truth is that there are thousands of cannabis users in the South West who do so without causing any harm to themselves or society whatsoever. I think you will find there are far more social problems caused by people getting high on legally available alcohol than from harmless stoners enjoying pot. What you don't realise is that pot smokers pay a TV license too, and we feel victimised by your lies and lack of journalistic integrity. Cannabis is at the bottom of the risk list when it comes to harm evaluation, so why does the BBC feel the need to lie to its viewers with utter nonsense implying that it is near the top of the risk list? Why not do a programme about the heroin and cocaine that is flooding into this country, of course you will not do that, as you know this is sponsored by the CIA, MI5 and the Israeli terrorist organisation Mossad, who as well as being behind the criminal drugs trade are also behind state sponsored terrorist events, such as 9/11 and 7/7. Why not have a go at them? The BBC is controlled by Common Purpose http://www.common....org.uk/home.aspx and the O.T.O. which are deluded sephirothic Venus worshiping lizardesks. If you want confirmation of this, look at your own fucking behind! Did you think you fooled the sheeple, when you invented a new word for recession? The sad thing is you do fool many of the sheeple with your dishonest lies, but I warn you that we are waking up the populous, and come the revolution, you will be held partly responsible for the crimes of our fascist government, by not only failing to speak out, but actively promoting their lies and disinformation. It was shabby journalism and whoever made it should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

Yeah, the south west bbc team are in fact just old naive bumpkins who still cant tell the difference between smack and pot. Silly ol twats that they are, if they mention alcohol _base_d drinks on the show they giggle and smirk like silly little children. ( this happens on most tv programmes ), as though drinking alcohol is naughty. Fooking igiots, its no laughing matter. These people are straight and ignorant of the reality of the facts. They just love witch hunts, fox hunts and polluting the world with their silly cars. When a dead soldier comes back from the illegal wars overseas, do they critisise the powers that be. No chance....as i said they are naive fools who just swallow the same old bullshit from politicians. I am off to score some pot now, hope no one follows me!!!!!

sad thing is DH, you will probably still only receive the insulting pre-written reply from the BBC that will state the same tripe about trying to meet standards and doing their best.
we all ought to write them to draw attention to the fact that it was so crap -- is there anything about this programme online to watch or read about so we can quote it, etc.?

It was on BBC South West Inside Out programme. They had an example of some kid whose life had been fucked up by cannabis, as he was smoking it all day, from when he got out of bed throughout the entire day; well of course you're gonna be fucked up if you do that, just like you would if you drank booze all day, but the BBC are not going to make stories about booze destroying peoples lives. It is like filming a wino in the gutter and saying he was a typical drinker.
It was terrible journalism designed to scare and spread misinformation to help promote the agenda of a failed and discredited government.

I was talking to a local lad ages ago, he was tryin to tell me he was addicted to cannabis, and was forced to go steelin to feed his habit, I told him bollocks! hes addicted to smoking tobbaco and was too weak willed too get off his ass n get a job to feed his habit n thevin was the easy way out! n it had nothin to do with cannabis. He never even answered or tryed to justify him self to me after that. Just provin the point that its the kids n sociaty. not the drugs, from all points of view, i know a couple of smack addicts who have held down a jod for years n feed there addiction, never even thought of steelin for it.

stopping cannabis is soooo easy I have smoked a quarter a day for a month then stopped for two weeks and it didn't bother me. If you get stoned all day you're probably going to be too monged out to do anything productive.
This guy sounds like a bit of a tosser but if he smoked so much did he not consider growing his own? or buying in ounces and selling enough to pay for his habit , if you can't afford it don't smoke or grow it.

I'd like to know where he got it from?
Most people I know who abstain from cannabis are doing so on an involuntary basis on account of the fact they can't find a dealer.
Also, it's worth noting that this person was still able to abuse cannabis to a silly level, even though it is illegal, so it's not as if it makes any difference, all they are doing is criminalising otherwise law-abiding cannabis smokers, who don't smoke all day from the second they get up, and of course helping organised criminals makes huge tax free profits on the black market.

we're talking about a minor here, i mean, why aren't the parents doing anything? surely they could smell it and tell when he's baked? it is really a case of society and not the drugs that are at fault, definitely.
is there a specific email to write to the BBC to complain or do you have to fill out one of their stupid boxes somewhere pertaining to this broadcast?
seriously, i will write them, too and post my response here as well. i think we all ought to really, we owe it to ourselves!
and too right, DH, it's booze that is a serious threat, not weed. i never see people high on cannabis smashing up windows or cars, because they're too fucking baked to be bothered to do that, at most they will probably raid their own cupboards for muchie materials. ridiculous, really.

As a parent, I can say with my hand on my heart, there's no way any of my kids would consume that amount of cannabis, because I simply wouldn't allow that situation to develop in the first place. Naturally, I wouldn't allow my kids either to drink a bottle of spirits a day, as I'm sure most other parents wouldn't either.
Unfortunately, there are bad parents who do let their kids either consume too much cannabis or alcohol, but strangely enough, the BBC are not doing a big expose on the alcohol industry.

it's ultimately a problem of neglect really, isn't it? and that is in itself a form of abuse. i feel really sorry for the poor bugger really, as he's a child still he can't really make the best decisions for himself really, that's why he should at least have a guardian looking out for him and spending time with him. aww : (

well when i write my reply, i won't be able to comment on the specific show (because i haven't seen it either) but we can all comment on the fact that they are drawing attention to cannabis and blaming society's evils on it and not showing the problems alcohol causes to the same extent.

The BBC are so unlikely to ever expose the reality of most situations, just media hoar's for thick people! Like most media outlets they would not want to rock the corporate boat, sad days that we live in........all this communication available and yet so much avoiding the facts...there is no future..... I suggest the film 'V' for Vendetta as a must watch...enjoy!

Did anyone see that Horizon (BBC) episode "Is Alcohol Worse Than Ecstasy"? It covered the reasoning behind This Graph, tackling each in the list in turn. That was some very good journalism by the BBC. But then I read shit like this and start to wonder...

well the next time i catch them reporting rubbish like the "news" this thread was started on i will be writing in. been a crazy two weeks again, i think i ought to have at least seen what i'm writing about.
but i still stand by the idea that we should still enlighten the BBC or any form of media when they report tabloid _style_ scare stories about cannabis.
@synchromium no haven't seen it, but that's an interesting chart. just goes to show that the classifications have more to do with perceived harm than actual harm.

UK: Swansea Crown Court Hears How Pembroke Dock Cannabis
Western Telegraph, 12 Jul 2010 - A Pembroke Dock man who has campaigned for the legalisation of cannabis for medical purposes for the last 15 years has turned over a new leaf, a judge heard on Friday. Eric Mann, a retired oil refinery supervisor, served two prison sentences while taking on the government in a bid for those suffering chronic pain to be allowed to take cannabis for pain relief.
